Regulatory Officer with a focus on labeling

Are you business-oriented and want to make a difference for food companies and consumers? The Swedish Food Agency is highly focused on facilitating compliance for businesses, which means regulations need to be simplified and Sweden's food control should be risk-based, equivalent, and effective. Do you want to contribute to our work? We are now looking for two regulatory officers with a focus on labeling.

Your Role

As a regulatory officer in labeling, you will work with issues related to food information and labeling. The work includes providing support and guidance related to the EU's information regulation as well as other specific legislation, such as trade standards and labeling of eggs, wine, and spirits.

You will respond to written inquiries from businesses, the public, and control staff, participate with expertise in collaborations and projects, and develop guiding information for businesses and control authorities. Monitoring the external environment and actively participating in relevant networks is a natural part of the job.

The role may also include work with protected designations, where you review Swedish applications and contribute to strengthening Swedish food culture, food craftsmanship, and food exports. Work with the regulations for organic production may also be included, such as interpreting rules, issuing exemptions, collaborating with control bodies, and being responsible for notifications in the OFIS system.

Your Competence

To succeed in this role, you need to have a university or college degree, preferably in food science, or another area that the employer deems relevant. You have at least three years of current experience in food control and/or quality work within food companies, or equivalent experience as a consultant in the food sector. You have a good understanding of the tasks and conditions of control and/or a good understanding of the conditions that apply to food companies, as well as a clear business-oriented perspective.

You have comprehensive knowledge of food legislation and in-depth knowledge of labeling legislation, particularly the EU's information regulation. You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English and have an analytical and pedagogical ability that allows you to plan, execute, and complete your tasks independently.

It is advantageous if you have experience in project management or working in a project format. For one position, knowledge of regulations, interpretations, and control methods for protected designations is an advantage, and for the other position, knowledge of the regulations for organic production and labeling is advantageous. Experience and knowledge of digital systems and IT support are also seen as a benefit.

Your Personal Qualities

To succeed in your work, you act responsibly, are collaborative, and have the ability to think innovatively and developmentally. You are engaged, solution-oriented, and invite and are open to collaborations and new perspectives that improve our deliveries. You enjoy working in teams and are open to new ways of working, sharing knowledge and lessons to strengthen our collective ability.

It is important that you see the value in collaboration – both internally between units and departments, and externally. You should also be able to communicate your efforts clearly and understandably. You should have solid expertise, be able to handle many different tasks, and switch between a holistic perspective and details.
